Dr. Chad Woods
DPT, MS, WCC, MCSP, HCPC
Lead Physiotherapist and Clinical DirectorDr Chad Woods is the Clinical Director of Woods Wellness Centre, which is the culmination of his long held dream to bring a modern, forward thinking health clinic to his adopted home of the Scottish Borders. Having earned his original degree in Biology and Chemistry from Salisbury State University in Maryland in 1999, Chad then went on to complete a Masters degree in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky in 2001. It was while working as a biologist for The National Institutes of Health in Washington DC that Chad realised he wanted a more direct impact on patient care. Chad graduated as a Doctor of Physical Therapy with distinction in 2009 from Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia. While based with his wife Lauren and their family in Ohio, Chad worked in a number of prestigious healthcare settings including Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, a number of long term care and rehabilitation centres and the The University Of Cincinnati orthopedics division. It was during this time that Dr Woods also began to work in professional sports, as a much sought after lead physiotherapist for professional teams including Cincinnati Cyclones and FC Cincinnati. He also acted as a private therapist to athletes and performers at a sporting and concert venue, US Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
In 2017 Chad and Lauren, along with their four children, embarked on a new adventure and moved to Peebles, Scotland. Quickly embedded in the local community, word of mouth spread about Chad’s practice, and his wide array of specialisms ranging from concussion and vestibular rehabilitation to migraine treatment and sports medicine. The evolution from Dr Woods Physio to the Woods Wellness Centre aligns with Chad’s philosophy of offering a bespoke service that treats the whole person.
